New Categories and Media
Every year the categories and media are tweaked to accurately reflect the current state of cable marketing — and 2009 is no different. Based on annual trends, entry numbers and winners, the Mark Awards operations committee made the following changes.
What Was Eliminated?
Technology and Trade Service Companies Division
What Was Added or Changed?
In Distributors Division:
Added Competitive Marketing
Added Customer Relations Marketing
Collaborative Marketing is a separate category and added Partnership Marketing
In Networks and Content Providers Division:
Under Affiliate Marketing added Events and Trade Show Booths as a medium
Multicultural or Alternative Audience Development replaced Minority and Multicultural Audience Development
Collaborative Marketing replaced by two new categories: Partnership with Affiliates; Partnership with Outside Organizations
Under Program Promotion and Tune-In media definitions have been altered — check carefully!
Under Program Promotion and Tune-In added Guerilla Marketing as a separate medium
Under Program Promotion and Tune-In, Online Media separated into three: Online Ads; Web Site & Microsite; Any Other Digital Medium
Digital Media Promotion now Promotion of Non-Linear Products
Special Note
New rule for Wild Card entries: Must include a sentence in the “Situation Analysis” to justify why the work was submitted in Wild Card and doesn’t fit another category.
